Our Purpose

The Friends provide support by raising capital and funding programs, facilities and events which are otherwise unfunded or unsustainable given City budget constraints. Our goals include maintaining the Department’s National Gold Medal status—the most prestigious award in Parks and Recreation nationally.

Our History

Thousands of Lake Forest residents enjoy our community parks and recreation facilities every year, as well as the many activities and programs designed to serve their interests. In response to the growing desire for more beautiful parks and additional recreation programs, the charitable nonprofit Friends of Lake Forest Parks and Recreation was established in February 2000. Friends is a 501(c)(3) organization.

National Gold Medal

The City of Lake Forest received the National Gold Medal Award for excellence in management of Parks and Recreation.
